Infophilia, a Positive Psychology of Information | February 13, 2025 | Vol. 3, Issue 7

✨Welcome to Infophilia, a weekly letter exploring how our love of information and connections can help us all thrive, individually and collectively.

I’m delighted to share such exciting Local News with you today—one that perfectly aligns with multiple celebrations around the world on February 14: Valentine's Day, International Book Giving Day, National Library Lovers' Day, and Read to Your Child Day. It's also National Black Literacy Day and National League of Women Voters Day, reinforcing the crucial role libraries and literacy have played in advancing education and democracy for all.

What else can a library be? We want to hear from you. We want to hear from everybody tonight. - Julie Zeoli

In a historic moment for Irvine, the city's first-ever City Librarian Julie Zeoli is leading an ambitious transformation of three libraries into what she envisions as some of the finest community spaces in the nation. This landmark transition will see our beloved Heritage Park, University Park, and the Katie Wheeler libraries move to city operation, with Julie at the helm of reimagining what modern libraries can mean for the community. The significance wasn't lost on her as she led her first informational meeting—which became a vibrant community engagement session—where she asked residents to dream alongside her.
